How to Participate

At HeroBrain, we aim to make neurofeedback accessible and practical for first responders. NeurOptimal® neurofeedback can help first responders by training their brains to self-regulate, improving stress resilience, mental clarity, and recovery from high-intensity situations. Engaging with NeurOptimal® can be done in ways that fit their unique needs, comfort levels, and operational environments.

Work with a Practitioner

For those who prefer practitioner guided sessions, feel free to contact us to help locate a NeurOptimal®
practitioner near you.

On-Site Sessions

Bringing a NeurOptimal® practitioner with one or more systems directly to fire stations, police departments, or other first responder facilities provides convenient access without disrupting demanding schedules. This ensures minimal downtime and seamless integration into their routine.

In-Office Sessions

First responders can visit practitioners' offices for personalized neurofeedback training in a controlled environment, allowing for relaxation and focus during sessions.

Self-Administered Neurofeedback

For those who prefer autonomy or do not have a practitioner nearby, HeroBrain provides training and support so they can set up and run sessions independently. We also facilitate access to a system, allowing first responders to integrate neurofeedback into their schedules.

Training for Self-Administration

First responders can learn to set up and use NeurOptimal® equipment independently, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Running sessions is simple and quick and can be learned through:

A NeurOptimal® practitioner

✔ A 10-minute online video tutorial

✔ A Zoom training session with a HeroBrain volunteer

Access to Equipment

HeroBrain and its collaborators can help first responders gain access to one or more NeurOptimal® systems for a pilot program or small trial. We offer guidance to help individuals or departments determine the most cost-effective and practical solution for their needs.

HeroBrain's Support Initiatives

Pilot Programs & Small Trials

HeroBrain provides volunteer-based support to organizations interested in:

✔ Running a small trial with a few participants or

✔ Implementing a formal pilot program

We help identify potential benefits, tracking tools and ways to best integrate neurofeedback into existing staff and peer support systems.

We assist in setting up sessions, providing implementation guidance, and tracking outcomes to demonstrate the benefits of neurofeedback in enhancing mental resilience and performance. Our emphasis is helping departments answer the question “Why should I do this?”.

For organizations with a nearby practitioner, they can arrange for their support if that is more convenient.

Accessible & Easy to Use

NeurOptimal® requires no lengthy training or certification and is designed to be simple to operate. First responders can integrate it seamlessly into their routines—whether with practitioner support or self-administration.

Last Thoughts

Any organization offering neurofeedback sessions to its crew is in for a pleasant surprise. There is nothing more gratifying than hearing that someone who was struggling is feeling better, calmer, and more focused.

HeroBrain’s mission is helping first responders gain access to neurofeedback. The impact speaks for itself: when first responders have the tools to self-regulate, they stay sharper, recover faster, and show up stronger—on and off duty.
