While many of the participants ran sessions on themselves, they also ran sessions on family members and extended the benefits of neurofeedback to their spouses and children. The results were overwhelmingly positive, particularly in reducing anxiety, behavioral issues, and ADHD symptoms within their families. This highlights a key takeaway: when first responders have access to stress regulation tools, the well-being of their entire household improves.

Two of the participants were preparing for interviews for promotions during their loan period. Both reported feeling significantly calmer, more focused, and mentally clear, which they believed helped them perform better during the interview process. This suggests that NeurOptimal® can be a valuable tool for first responders navigating career advancements and high-stakes situations.

One of the loaners was a farmer who also served as a volunteer firefighter. Farming, much like first responder work, is a high-stress, high-responsibility profession where unpredictability, long hours, and financial pressures contribute to chronic stress and mental strain. Given the similarities in mental and emotional demands, NeurOptimal® should be considered as a powerful tool for farmers as well—especially those balancing the additional duty of emergency response.

One of the most exciting takeaways from the "Calm Minds Save Lives" pilot was the realization that first responder organizations could offer NeurOptimal® loaner systems as a staff benefit. Beyond helping responders manage job-related stress, this approach could provide an effective, non-invasive way for families to navigate challenges, improve relationships, and restore harmony at home.

The Takeaway
The "Calm Minds Save Lives" pilot confirmed what we at HeroBrain have always believed: mental resilience isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. When first responders have access to tools that help them regulate stress, the benefits extend far beyond the individual—to their families, their performance on the job, and even their wider communities.
As HeroBrain continues to grow, we’re looking at ways to expand access to NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback, ensuring that more first responders—and those who stand beside them—can experience these life-changing benefits.
